Russia has said it is ready to offer financial assistance as part of its involvement in building the first nuclear power plant in Vietnam.
Rosatom, Russia's state nuclear corporation, said financing for nuclear construction was discussed during a "working meeting" in Russia yesterday between Vietnam's prime minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Rosatom director-general Sergey Kirienko.
Following related talks on 14 May, with Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev, Mr Dung said the two leaders had agreed to draw up a "timetable" for building the proposed Ninh Thuan-1 nuclear power plant in the southeastern province of Ninh Thuan.
